At M&ESURE, we think of ourselves as ‘thinking partners’ and ‘critical friends’. Ideally, we would like to hear about your programme when it’s still just an idea… your sector-specific knowledge and experience are paramount, and, merged with our M&E insights, we believe that together we can build your programme to be as efficient and measurable as possible.
Our approach to the way we work is underscored by:
- how we are trained – our team is schooled in social science and we believe this enhances how we think about and approach our work;
- how we collaborate – we value interdisciplinarity and regularly team-up with associates and collaborators;
- how we can transfer our skills, expertise and insights – we can relate and apply these to a number of different contexts and sectors;
- how we engage – we meet our clients where they are at… a high-rise office block, a food garden, a classroom; and
- how we add value – we strive to live our values proposition of providing quality support and service, on time, at standard, without waste, and with joy.
We are proud to have many repeat clients, which is testimony to our belief in cultivating meaningful and long-term relationships with the organisations we work with.
LIEZEL DE WAAL » FOUNDING PARTNER AND SENIOR EVALUATOR
MA Sociology, Postgraduate Diploma in M&E
Liezel has always sought to understand how things work in the world. Apart from her general interest in almost everything, she has a special interest in understanding people and, particularly, their collective actions. It’s no wonder she found herself in the world of Sociology and Evaluation. She believes that every organisation, community, society and their individuals have unique stories to tell. These stories are deeply situated within contexts that are not easily observable. Through applying the tools of the social-sciences-trade, the dynamics underlying these contexts are distilled and meaning is generated. As an evaluator, Liezel feels endlessly blessed to be able to work with amazing people and organisations every day, doing work that is her true calling. Before M&ESURE, Liezel worked as a social science researcher in a variety of different fields, including social assistance grants, science and technology, higher education, community development and poverty alleviation as well as monitoring and evaluation.
MÉGAN FRANKLIN » FOUNDING PARTNER AND SENIOR EVALUATOR
MPhil Community Development, Postgraduate Diploma in M&E
Megan has a heart for people and knew that she would one day work with communities in some shape or form. Her postgraduate studies centred around community development and it was here that she ‘met’ monitoring and evaluation for the first time. The complexity of measuring social change captivated her and her love-affair with M&E began. Megan relishes the opportunity to work with organisations and thrives on the rich engagements that ultimately form the basis of her approach to development. Prior to starting M&ESURE, Megan worked in the higher education arena for several years, occupying various roles in a teaching and research capacity at Stellenbosch University.
